I was tired of writing about the attacks on President Bush and the military over Gitmo, where the prisoners have better medical treatment than I do and gourmet meals, not to mention personal Koran's provided to them by us taxpayers. But this fact finding mission extraordinaire by Michelle Malkin is so good I have to post it.
One thing that stands out is the fact that the major most credible complaint, that these prisoners have been given no legal recourse to contest their incarceration, is not true. In fact, they are being given what has been ordered by the court in a case involving a US citizens right, the Hamdi decision.
Malkin writes:
"In the end, courts will almost certainly affirm the legality of the Gitmo tribunals, which, as noted, were modeled after the due process standards described in the Hamdi decision.
That ruling, may I remind you, addressed the detention of a U.S. citizen as an enemy combatant. As former Attorney General William Barr noted last week in testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, "Obviously, if these procedures are sufficient for American citizens, they are more than enough for foreign detainees."
Read the whole article, it is great.
